Omega launched a new version of its successful ‘Grey Side of the Moon’ Speedmaster in 2016. In addition to the original’s 44.25mm ceramic case and bezel, the watch also features touches of Omega’s proprietary ‘Sedna’ gold and, most obviously, a meteorite dial. Not only is this material fitting for a watch steeped in history around space exploration, but it’s also beautiful and striking. What’s more, with no two pieces of meteorite being the same, it gives the watch its own unique look and character.

High levels of finishing can be seen on all components of the watch, including the case where sharply defined lines separate the polished flared lugs from the satin-finished flanks. The bezel utilises Omega’s ‘Ceragold’, where gold and ceramic are integrated to create a seamless aesthetic. Sedna gold has also been used to craft the applied hour markers and hands. The dial is symmetrically laid out, with a 12-hour chronograph and running seconds displayed in two sub-registers.

This is thanks to the design architecture of the in-house calibre 9300, which can be viewed through the large sapphire crystal on the watch’s underside. This automatic winding movement features a co-axial escapement and twin barrels that deliver a 60-hour power reserve. Attached to the case and complementing the colour of the ceramic is a rectangular scale alligator strap in anthracite grey. On the underside is a supple calfskin leather with contrasting red stitching.

This 2020 example is presented in excellent condition, with only minor signs of wear on the leather strap. The sale includes the box, guarantee card, pictogram card, leather wallet, cloth, operating instructions, and swing tag, making it a full set.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
