Sell it with usTAG Heuer Gulf special edition watches are instantly recognisable by their dials, which always start with a dark blue base before adding the two Gulf stripes - one in light blue and the other in orange. These off-centre stripes echo the design of the racing overalls worn by Steve McQueen in his acclaimed 1971 film ‘Le Mans’.
This 2019 Gulf Formula 1 (reference 20-55-032) uses the same orange to pick out the central chronograph hand and the tips on the three lacquered subdial hands. Sized at 43mm, the stainless steel case is framed by a striking blue aluminium insert and a titanium-carbide coated crown and chronograph pushers.
The three subdials each have a circular pattern with a slight cream or ivory tint rather than a bright white. The other key details on the dial are the minute rehaut, with five-minute increments, and the standard rectangular hour indices, which have white SuperLuminova, as does the over-size “12” at the top of the dial.
The high quality blue coloured strap is made from calfskin leather and has an unusual asphalt texture effect. On the inside of the strap is an orange rubber lining with matching orange stitching.
The watch comes with a special edition booklet, warranty card, presentation boxes and instructions booklet. Its condition falls within the bounds of the seller’s AA grading.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
