SUMMARY
With its rounded octagonal bezel, the ingenious porthole construction of its case, and its distinctive horizontally embossed dial, the Gérald Genta-penned Patek Philippe Nautilus has long been the very epitome of the elegant - and highly sought-after - sports watch. The rose gold case of this ref. 5980/1AR features a screw-down crown, and sapphire crystal case back and is rated water-resistant to 120m. The case diameter is 40.5 mm, and the height is 12.2 mm. The watch is expertly hand-finished with a blend of brushed and polished surfaces, and the black dial has a gradient finish and a distinctive horizontal embossing that’s become synonymous with the Nautilus model line. The chronograph timing is neatly displayed at 6 o’clock, keeping the dial symmetrical and uncluttered. On the underside, a sapphire caseback reveals the calibre CH 28-520 C movement, which offers a power reserve of up to 55 hours. The rotor is made in 21K gold, and the movement is finely finished and decorated with the Patek Philippe Seal. The watch is presented on an integrated gold bracelet with polished intermediary links.
