A watch that’s maintained somewhat of a cult status in the Patek Philippe catalogue, the Ellipse is the company’s second-longest-running model line - preceded only by the Calatrava. The watch’s elliptical shape - somewhere between a circle and a rectangle - is designed using the ‘golden ratio’ and is characterised by its unique lugless case. The 5738R was introduced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Golden Ellipse. Finished in 18K rose gold, an ebony black dial and a matching onyx set crown, this Golden Ellipse encapsulates the classic dress watch aesthetic perfectly.
