Sell it with usThis one-owner Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time was purchased new by the vendor from a UK-authorised dealer in 2019. The watch is accompanied by its display box, outer box, certificate of origin and booklets. Light marks and swirls are visible on the case and pin buckle, with some wear visible on the inside of the leather strap. Its overall condition is consistent with the vendor’s ‘A’ grading.
Launched back in 2015 to the surprise of Patek Philippe enthusiasts, the reference 5524 blends the utilitarian looks of a pilot’s watch with Patek Philippe’s clever ‘travel time’ complication. The watch’s design was inspired by some of the company’s pilot watches from the 1930s and is clearly distinguished from other models in the Calatrava line.
The case is finished in rose gold and measures 42mm in diameter, a size that provides substantial presence on the wrist and is faithful to the early days of pilots' watches. As the perfect travel companion, the case flank incorporates distinctive pushers for adjusting the skeletonised “local time” hour hand. This allows the wearer to quickly set the local time when arriving at a new destination while simultaneously keeping track of time at home.
The sunburst brown dial is designed with legibility in mind with large gold Arabic numerals filled with Super-LumiNova. A radial date display is positioned at 6 o’clock, keeping the dial symmetrical. Turning the watch over, a sapphire case back displays the expertly finished calibre CH 324 S C FUS. Côtes de Genève has been applied to the bridges and yellow gold winding rotor, and the movement has been signed with Patek Philippe Seal. Timekeeping is regulated from -3/+2 seconds per day.
