Sell it with usOffered by a private collector, this Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167A-001 is presented with its display box, outer box, certificate of origin, booklets and swing tag. The watch shows some very light marks and swirls around the case and clasp, and its condition appears within the vendor’s ‘A’ grading.
This current generation ref. 5167A-001 has an expertly finished 40.8mm stainless steel case with a blend of brushed and polished surfaces. Due to its impressive thinness (8.1mm), the watch can easily slide under any shirt cuff, and with its screw-down crown and 120m water-resistant case, is just at home by the water. Attached to the case is a factory composite rubber strap with a double deployant clasp.
The dial is characterised by a distinctive geosphere pattern, with large applied Arabic numerals providing high levels of legibility. Turning the watch over, the self-winding calibre 324 SC is visible through the sapphire case back. This ultra-thin movement boasts a power reserve of 45 hours and is elaborately decorated with Côtes de Genève across the bridges and the 21K winding rotor. The Patek Philippe seal certifies its quality and ensures timekeeping is within -3 to +2 seconds per day.
Introduced in 1997, the Aquanaut draws inspiration from its Genta designed counterpart, the Nautilus, but maintains its own unique character. It was considered unconventional at launch, offered on a strap made of rubber - a material not traditionally associated with Switzerland’s premier watchmakers. Since then, it’s set the trend for other manufacturers to combine luxurious and contemporary materials.
