SUMMARY
Launched in 2012 as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Mercury-Alpha 8 mission, the Speedmaster “First Omega in Space” is a faithful and modern take on the CK2998 worn on the wrist of Wally Schirra. This numbered, non-limited edition has grown in popularity in recent years, particularly since being discontinued in 2020. This 21st-century Moonwatch features the same black dial, black bezel and stainless steel case with symmetric lugs as the watch that inspired it. As a further tribute to the original, both Baton and Alpha-style hands are used. As a final touch, the stainless steel caseback is also embossed with the original 1962 seahorse medallion.
