SUMMARY
Launched in 2018 as a nod to Breitling’s “Huit” department responsible for the manufacture of chronograph watches and aircraft cockpit instruments in the run-up to World War II, the Breitling Navitimer 8 is a simpler version of the brand’s much-loved aviator’s watch. The slide-rule “wrist computer” bezel has been replaced by a simpler, fixed component, and housed within this reference’s 43mm stainless steel case is a simple, black dial finished with Arabic numerals, which provide the wearer with a sense of contrast and superior legibility. The dial is also beset with the old Breitling ‘B’ logo as a nod to the brand’s pre-war heritage and its long-term association with the skies.
