SUMMARY

The Speedmaster Professional is one of the true greats of modern watchmaking, with a timeless design that has changed very little in over 50 years of its production. Omega has honoured the watch’s legacy with the release of this limited Speedmaster ‘Ultraman’ in conjunction with Fratello Watches as the second of its exclusive ‘#SpeedyTuesday’ launches. 

Limited to 2,012 pieces, it pays homage to the Speedmaster featured in the 1971 Japanese science fiction TV show “Return of Ultraman”. The watch was customized to be worn by the ‘Monster Attack Team’ and featured a bright orange seconds hand to match their uniform. Tasteful and subtle hints on this 2018 model harken back to the original like the same orange seconds hand, and also other hints of orange can be seen on the hour marker pips, ‘Speedmaster’ and ‘tachymeter’ insignia, and the stitching on the NATO strap. Ultraman himself is featured on the 9 o’clock subregister and shines brightly when exposed to UV light. The classic Omega calibre 1861 powers the watch, a manual-wound movement equipped with 48 hours of power reserve.
