Sell it with usPresented as a full set, this 2018 IWC Ingenieur Silver Arrow is being auctioned through a private seller. The watch comes accompanied by its original display box, display stand, official paperwork including an IWC warranty/service booklet, instruction manual, plus proof of the IWC warranty covering the reference until 2024. The vendor has also included the watch’s original price tag and IWC-branded cleaning cloth. The watch wears some light age-related marks on its top-right lug, but nonetheless, it appears to be in general good working order. The photos and information provided about the reference appear to correlate with the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
Inspired by the Mercedes-Benz W25 racing car of the 1930s driven by Rudolf Caracciola, this bold 45mm by 14.2mm watch draws heavily on its racing heritage. The dial is finished in a circular-grained silver reminiscent of the W25’s dashboard, whilst the chronograph complications denoting hours, minutes, and seconds at 12 and six o’clock hark back to the easily-readable dials found on racing cars of the 1930s. A purposeful brown alligator bracelet with a black rubber surround is attached to the watch and has been designed by IWC to invoke visuals of the leather belts used to secure race car bonnets during the pre-war period. Away from the racing circuit, the watch is water resistant to a depth of 120 metres.
Turn the watch over, and you’ll notice a screw-down rear case engraved with a visual of the Mercedes W25. Beneath it lies IWC’s 89361 calibre, which was developed entirely in-house and beats to a frequency of 28,800 vph. Praised for its power reserve of up to 68 hours, this impressive piece of watch engineering is decorated with Côtes de Genève.
The IWC Ingenieur was commissioned to celebrate the Mercedes W25 race car and is limited to just 1,000 pieces.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
