Sell it with usBritish watchmaker Bremont has a longstanding association with aviation and their passion is no more recognisable than in the various, limited editions that appear after many months of development.
This Bremont 1918 Limited Edition commemorates an important milestone in 2018 when the Royal Air Force celebrated its centenary year. Bremont state that the model was designed for an institution ‘steeped in tradition,’ that provides ‘aerial protection for the United Kingdom and her interests.’ Limited to 275 pieces, this timepiece is number 164.
The polished stainless steel case of this 1918 measures an imposing 43mm, while at the reverse, a sapphire crystal gives you a glimpse into the mesmerising BE-16AE automatic chronometer movement. This unique movement has four iconic British aircraft incorporated into its design, including a WW1 RAF SE5a biplane fighter which is located at the centre of the rotor and crafted from a veneer of wood from the original rudder bar of the plane. Additionally, each of the three propeller style blades that make up the rest of the rotor embody the Bristol Blenheim, Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane.
The intricate automatic calibre complements its striking white dial with sleek blue hour and minute hands, GMT 12 hours and seconds chronograph at the centre, small seconds at 9 o clock, a 30-minute sub-dial at 3 o clock, an am/pm disc at 6 o clock, telemeter function and a date window at 4 o clock. To complete the luxurious finish of this Bremont 1918 Steel Limited Edition, an alligator leather strap is added alongside a steel pin buckle.
This piece is presented for sale in superb condition with only the lightest of wear to the case and case back. The alligator strap is lightly worn and the box, papers, auxiliary NATO strap and accessories are in excellent condition.
