Among Patek’s gallery of watch complications, the annual calendar is one of the brand’s most popular. Reference 5146 is the second generation of the very first annual calendar watch (ref 5035) which was only created by Patek Philippe as recently as 1996. Built around the beautifully finished (and visible) automatic caliber 315 and housed in a modestly sized 39mm case, it packs some impressive horological firepower. The background of the grey dial has a slightly brushed sunburst effect. The dial itself is symmetrical and well organised. Slightly recessed sub-dials show the day and month, and there’s a date display at 6 o'clock. The moon phase indicator is just above the date, and shows a golden moon and stars on a dark blue background. A power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock contributes further to the practical aspects of the watch. Four small buttons on the side of the case are used to set the month, the date, day of the week and the phase of the moon. The case is beautifully shaped and in a nice finishing touch, the fluted crown features the Calatrava cross.

This example from 2017 shows signs of very light wear; some swirls on the case and a little wear to the strap. The watch comes on a leather strap with a hallmarked gold tang buckle, along with its Certificate of Origin, inner and outer presentation boxes, and papers.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
