Sell it with usNumbered 33 of 2000, this limited edition Tag Heuer Monza is offered by a private collector who purchased the watch new from a TAG Heuer authorised dealer in Newcastle, UK in 2016. The watch is accompanied by its box and service receipt from Watchfinder, where it was given a complete service in 2019. It shows some signs of wear on the bezel where the PVD coating appears to have been scratched off and these marks cannot be polished out. There is a small blemish on the 4 o’clock pusher. The overall condition appears to be within the bounds of the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
This TAG Heuer Monza features a 42mm black PVD coated titanium cushion shape case. The dial is black and mixes sporty red accents with vintage style luminescent batons. Many of the design style features are taken from the original 1976 watch. Of note, while the watch is made by the modern era TAG Heuer brand the dial uses the Heuer logo in tribute to the original Monza from 1976. The watch is powered by a Calibre 17 mechanical automatic chronograph movement. The strap, with a folding clasp, is leather and has motorsport-inspired perforations, again in homage to the original. Water resistance is noted as 100 meters.
It was under Jack Heuer’s leadership that the Heuer brand became extensively involved in working alongside motorsports events and teams, famously producing models such as the Autavia, Carrera, Monaco and Monza in the 1960s and 1970s.
