Own a similar Patek Philippe?
Sell it with usIntroduced in 2006 as a 30th anniversary celebration of the original Gerald Genta designed Nautilus, the 5711 has grown in status to a point that eclipses the 1976 original.
Looking all but identical to the 3700/1, the dial is blue-black with horizontal ridges, luminous baton markers and a date window at 3 o’clock. On the reverse, a sapphire caseback reveals the manufacture Caliber 324 SC inside. This self-winding movement incorporates several of Patek Philippe’s innovations. These include the four-spoke Gyromax® balance wheel and the Spiromax® balance-spring in Silinvar®. The immaculately finished movement is topped off with a 21K gold winding rotor.
Popular on launch it was readily available at retail for much of it’s life but as the trend for steel sports increased, it became THE steel sports watch to own. Patek produce very few watches in steel and most of these are lady’s quartz so a modest increase in popularity lead to waiting lists which grew, in time, to over a decade.
Inaccessibility breeds desirability and so over the last 3yrs prices in the secondary market have soared. This was brought to a head in early 2021 when Patek confirmed the long-circulating rumours that the 5711 was to be discontinued.
No ‘safe queen’, this is a watch that has been worn and enjoyed, meaning that the next owner can do the same without the fear of that inevitable first scratch. There are marks to the bezel, case, and bracelet, but if you want that ‘pristine’ appearance, a valet from Patek Philippe would return it to as-new condition. The watch is offered with a presentation box and a full set of papers including details of a service and valet caried out in 2017.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
