SUMMARY
First announced in 2011 as a watch well ahead of its time, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme Lab 2 is a technical triumph from the “watchmaker’s watchmaker”. The titanium case and skeletonised dial are redolent of high-end watchmaking and motorsport alike, with its standout feature being the digital-style minute register at 12 o’clock which is a joy to watch in operation for any enthusiast. The chronograph offers 24 hours of timing - double the capacity of most typical movements, with other functions of this 569-part calibre including a second time zone complication and an am/pm indicator at 6 o’clock.
While the watch features a traditional crown, operating it is anything but conventional. A hacking lever at 9 o’clock effectively unlocks it, allowing for the settings to be cycled through, as denoted in the sub-dial at 3 o’clock. Flipping the case over, a sapphire crystal offers an unobstructed view of the movement with levers on either side of the sapphire allowing the wearer to quickly and conveniently change straps. On the wrist, the Master Compressor shines as a watch that doesn’t compromise on brand pedigree or technical capability.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
