Napoleon’s sister Caroline Murat, the Queen of Naples, was a prolific watch collector and one of Breguet’s best customers, buying 34 watches and clocks in her lifetime. Amongst her commissions, in 1810, was a elongated repeating watch with built-in thermometer, one of the first watches designed to be worn on the wrist.

In honour of this watch, in 2002 Breguet launched the Reine de Naples collection in a unique ovoid case with offset seconds, moon phase and power reserve indication. In 2010 introduced this classic design to a younger audience. A larger stainless steel case and a simple dial with oversized Breguet numerals offered a dramatic update. The dial is produced in shimmering blue mother-of-pearl with blued steel openwork Breguet hands.

The watch is powered by the 25 jewel calibre 591C which offers 38 hrs of power reserve. Antimagnetic properties are enhanced by a silicon balance spring and effective winding by a 22ct gold rotor, all visible through the sapphire display case back.

This watch is offered in good condition with wear marks and light scratches to the bezel and light marks to the case back. Included in the sale are full box, including the cardboard outer carton and papers dated 2015. The watch is fitted to a black alligator strap with stainless steel deployant buckle. It also comes with an additional navy blue alligator strap.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading.
