Launched in 2006 and discontinued in 2014, the reference 5980/1A was the first chronograph variant of this iconic and sought-after model line. The distinctive Gerald Genta designed case measures 40.5mm in diameter - a refined and ergonomic size despite the watch’s complication.

Fine polishing has been applied on the bezel’s flank and across the mid-case, which then continues down the bevels on the bracelet’s links. Emblematic of the Nautilus, the dark blue dial features horizontal embossing and applied baton hour markers in white gold. Patek Philippe has managed to neatly integrate the chronograph by grouping the sub-registers together at 6 o’clock. Turning the watch over reveals the manufacture’s first-ever in-house automatic chronograph movement. The reference CH 28-520 sports a 21K gold central rotor and has a 55-hour power reserve.

This example from 2014 is presented in fair condition with some visible marks and blemishes on the case and bracelet. Also included in the sale are the box, manual, certificate of origin, and swing tag.
