ChopardMille Miglia GT XL

History tells us that, in 1922 having lost the Italian Grand Prix from their hometown of Bressica to Monza, two aristocrats came up with the idea of a road race to Rome and back – and so the Mille Miglia was born.

First run in 1927 and restarted as an exclusive vintage revival race in 1977, it is one of the key events in the Italian sporting calendar. Since 1988, Chopard had been a timing partner, a sponsor and has produced a watch to celebrate the race. 

The 2011 GT XL is powered by ETA calibre A07.211 which is a supersized version of the reliable 7750 chronograph, specially designed for larger watches. The dial design cleverly relocates the hour numerals to the underside of the crystal to emphasise the chronograph function, while a powerful crystal cyclops keeps the actual date window small.

In keeping with the road racing spirit, the rubber strap has a characteristic ‘tyre’ tread design.

This watch is offered in overall excellent condition with complete box and papers. 

The case has minor handling and wear marks. The crystal, dial and hands are pristine. The case back has some minor scratches. The strap is in excellent condition with some light scratches and accumulated dust. The buckle has only light scratches and functions correctly.

The box and papers are complete and in good condition with some minor marks to the exterior of the box.
