Purchased new from Patek Philippe’s Salon in London, single one-owner Aquanaut is being auctioned along with its box, booklets, certificate of origin and a spare rubber strap. During its lifetime it has been serviced and with some light marking around the case, it falls within the seller’s ‘A’ grading.

This reference 5167A from 2012 features a 40mm rounded polygon shape case, clearly inspired by the Gerald Genta designed Nautilus. It is expertly hand finished with clearly defined brushed and polished surfaces. The dial features a distinctive geosphere cut, with applied white gold indices, Arabic numerals, and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova. The exhibition caseback on the underside displays the calibre 324 S C, which has a 21K yellow gold winding rotor and a 45-hour power reserve.

Rocking the watch industry to its core, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut was released in 1997 and redefined the norms of watchmaking. The idea of a Patek Philippe on a rubber strap initially seemed oxymoronic, but it has now stood the test of time and has established itself as a modern classic.
