SUMMARY

With its rounded octagonal bezel, the ingenious porthole construction of its case, and its distinctive horizontally embossed dial, the Gérald Genta-penned Patek Philippe Nautilus has long been the very epitome of the elegant - and highly sought-after - sports watch. The rose gold case of this ref. 5980/1R-001 features a screw-down crown, and sapphire crystal case back and is rated water-resistant to 120m. The case diameter is 40.5 mm, and the height is 12.2 mm. The watch is expertly hand-finished with a blend of brushed and polished surfaces, and the dial has a gradient finish and a distinctive horizontal embossing that’s become synonymous with the Nautilus model line. The chronograph timing is neatly displayed at 6 o’clock, keeping the dial symmetrical and uncluttered. On the watch’s underside, a sapphire caseback reveals the calibre CH 28-520 C movement, Patek Philippe’s first in-house automatic chronograph. The rotor is made in 21K gold, and the movement is finely finished and decorated with the Patek Philippe Seal.
