Sell it with usAuctioned through a New York-based trade vendor, this 2010 Girard Perregaux Tourbillon is accompanied by its original display box and original paperwork, including its official manufacturer guarantee and instruction manual. Now over a decade old, this reference has some light age-related marks on its case, whilst wear is visible on the strap. In line with the seller’s description, the watch fits within the bounds of the ‘A’ condition category.
Characterised by its visual intrigue and technically-advanced mechanicals, the Tourbillon reference is Girard Perregaux’s flagship timepiece. Housed within its 41mm, 18K rose gold case is a sophisticated skeleton dial fashioned from platinum and characterised by its three rose gold, arrow-shaped bridges. These distinctive bridges do not just give the dial its characteristic ‘floating’ appearance, they also support the watch’s gear train, barrel, and tourbillon. Along with the black Louisiana alligator strap, the pink gold hour and minute hands are also key to contributing to this watch’s luxurious appearance and feel.
At the heart of the watch beats Girard Perregaux’s GP 9600 self-winding tourbillon, which has a heritage of over 160 years. Made up of 31 jewels, this automatic movement is widely-respected amongst watch enthusiasts for its accuracy and the craftsmanship that goes into its assembly. Calibre GP 9600 has a power reserve of up to 48 hours.
The Girard Perregaux Tourbillon was first introduced back in 1860, and proved a revolution in Haute Horlogerie. Retaining all of the technicality and sophistication of the original reference, just 50 of these rose gold editions were crafted in the mid-2010s.
