Watch/car collaborations are commonplace, but watch/boat special editions are far rarer, which is a shame as boats can share the same performance and heritage as their dry-land counterparts.

Boesch Motorboote of Kilchberg Switzerland have been creating stylish craft to cruise Lake Zurich since 1920. Their distinctive mahogany motorboats are not only exquisitely built and effortlessly cool, they have a serious turn of pace with acceleration that makes them first choice for waterskiing.

To celebrate 80yrs of the brand, they collaborated with IWC to create a limited edition of the Aquatimer. Based on the trustworthy calibre 7750, this sports chronograph measures an impressive 44mm and is water resistant to 120m. True to its dive roots, the Aquatimer has an internal uni-directional elapsed time bezel that can be set via the dual-purpose crown at 4.00pm.

The dial of the watch features the signature of the second-generation owner –Walter Boesch while the dial tone and the matching rubber strap echo the rich brown of Boesch’s iconic boats. On the case back a circular mahogany inlay features a stylised marine screw propellor.

The watch box is particularly noteworthy in that the watch sits atop the same striped and varnished wooden ‘deck’ that you would find on a Boesch boat.

The watch is offered in overall excellent condition with complete box and papers.

The watch case has only light handling marks. There is a small area of tarnish between the crown and an accumulation of dust in the case crevices. The crystal, hands and dial are in pristine condition.

The rubber strap has attracted dust while in storage from the box fabric, other than this it is unmarked. The fitted strap is an XL, a standard-length additional strap is included. The buckle is in unmarked condition. A copy of IWC’s ‘Watch International’ magazine is included which details the watch on its launch.

The box and outer carton are complete and in excellent condition.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
