Sell it with usPart of the Breitling for Bentley collection, this M41390 ‘Barnato’ commemorates one of motor racing’s most famous sons, Mr Woolf Barnato. As one of the ‘Bentley Boys’, this ex-WW1 Royal Field Artillery Officer, Financier and 3-time Le Mans winning driver lends his name to this vintage-inspired racing chronograph.
Limited to 100 pieces, this no. 19/100 watch features a 42mm black PVD plated stainless-steel case, with a matching bi-directional, factory-set, black diamond bezel and shoulders, and a black Bentley rubber strap.
Its black chronograph dial and red-lined sub-dials – inspired by gauges and stopwatches used within the reverberating cockpits of the Hassan and Pacey special Bentley one-seaters – create a menacing, meaningful aesthetic to the dial.
Further special dial decoration is provided by diamond-set hour markers, where legibility is aided by luminous silver-tone hands that pop out of the oil-like darkness.
Powered by Swiss Made Breitling Calibre 41B automatic movement, with a power reserve of 42 hours and 100m of water-resistance, this extremely rare and rather intriguing model is perhaps as unexpected and head-turning as Barnato’s record-setting Bentley race cars.
The watch is in good worn condition and as is the way with the most charming vintage racers, it comes with slight pitting, marks, and patina across the case and case back. The original box and papers are not included with the sale.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
