IWCPilots UTC Antoine de Saint Exupery Limited Edition

IWC has a long and well-documented association with aviation. The Pilots UTC Antoine de Saint Exupery Ltd Ed “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” of course features a black dial and typical calfskin strap – the latter inspired by the flying suit worn by the French author and pilot.

Known for their oversized, original pilots watches IWC have made many incarnations over the years. This particular model is dedicated to the pilot and novelist Antoine de Saint Exupery with only 500 pieces worldwide. This case of this extremely rare and important version is made of 18ct rose gold with a solid 18ct rose gold caseback depicting Saint-Exuperys Southern Mail Route.

It is held on an oversized brown calfskin strap with a matching 18ct rose gold pin buckle. Fitted to the watch is an IWC caliber 30710, automatic self-winding dual time movement. The dial on the limited rose gold Antoine de Exupery is brown with applied luminous numerals and indicators showing central seconds and 24 hour independent dial. Fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.

In both form and function, this watch reflects the ideal established by classic pilot’s watches. Like cockpit instrumentation, the clearly organized dial is reduced to essentials, and legibility is a top priority.

The watch, which is water-resistant to 6 bar, meets the requirements of professional pilot’s watches in terms of precision and has a 42-hour power reserve. With its soft-iron inner case, it is optimally shielded against the influence of magnetic fields.

The watch is presented for sale in excellent condition throughout. There are no perceptible marks to the case and caseback. The calfskin strap is in excellent condition with little sign of wear. Box and papers are present and are also excellent.
