Sell it with usNumbered 17 of 1630, this limited edition IWC Pilot's Chronograph is offered by a private collector who purchased the watch new in 2008. It is accompanied by the outer and presentation boxes, operating instructions, warranty papers and a special edition of Saint-Exupéry's novel ‘Nightflight’. The watch shows some light signs of wear on the case, strap and buckle, and its condition is within the bounds of the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
The stainless-steel case measures 42mm across and has a utilitarian aesthetic in keeping with the IWC’s PIlot’s Watch range. The tobacco brown dial features three sub-dials, the hour disc of which features Saint-Exupéry’s distinctive ‘A’ signature, a day and date window and displays the time with oversized Arabic numerals. The caseback is engraved with a portrait of Saint-Exupéry himself, and sitting underneath is the automatic calibre 79320 movement, which is based on the reliable Valjoux 7750. Matching the dial’s colour is a factory brown calf leather strap with contrast stitching secured by a signed deployant buckle.
This limited-edition series builds on the IWC’s successful Pilot’s Watch range, incorporating distinctive brown dials and honouring this aviation legend.
Automatic, self-winding with 44 hours power reserve and 6 bar water resistance
Anti-magnetic; soft iron inner case protects against magnetic fields (24,000 A/m)
Sapphire glass, antireflective coating on both sides, secured against air pressure displacement
Luminous numerals and hands
