From a UK private collector comes this 2008 Breitling Blackbird reference A44359. The lot comprises a full set including presentation boxes, guarantee document, swing tags, spare links for bracelet, along with the warranty and instruction booklet.

There are small scratches visible on the bi-directional bezel and signs of wear on the caseback and bracelet. The seller states that the watch is in good working order and it appears to be consistent with their ‘A’ rating for condition.

The 44mm steel case features an entirely brushed finish. The bezel includes 360-degrees graduations and rider tabs with E/S/W for directional orientation. Additionally, in keeping with its ‘tool watch’ profile, the chronograph pushers can be locked to avoid activating the chronograph function whilst underwater. Completing the operating gear is an oversized onion style screw down crown.

The dial of this generation of Blackbird Breitling features an oversized ‘grande’ date window under 12 o’clock combined with a trio of registers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The chronometer rated movement is the Breitling Caliber 44 modular vertical clutch chronograph movement which is based on the ETA 2892 modified by Breitling.

This robust variant of the fabled Chronomat line of watches represents the best of what’s modern about Breitling in a fascinating and relatively discrete model.
