For auction through a private seller, this London-based 2006 Patek Philippe is presented as a full set. This tasteful ensemble comes with its original display box, plus official factory papers including the watch’s service book and its certificate of origin. In line with the watch’s age, there are some swirls and marks on the case. The vendor describes the watch to be in good working order, thus placing it within the bounds of their ‘A’ grading.

Measuring 42mm x 30mm in diameter, the rectangular case of this elegant Art Deco-inspired reference is finished in striking 18K yellow gold, which brings together an aesthetically-pleasing blend of satin and brushed surfaces. The ivory dial is a source of intrigue thanks to its guilloche centre, yellow 18K gold feuille hands, and a subsidiary seconds counter positioned at six o’clock. Meanwhile, the applied 18K gold hour markers and Arabic numeral at 12 are a playful reminder of this Gondolo’s turn-of-the-century heritage. The watch is paired with a stylish black alligator strap and gold pin buckle.

Housed inside the case is Patek Philippe’s manual-winding 215 calibre, including a self-compensating flat balance spring and the brand’s patented Gyromax balance. At full wind, the movement has a power reserve of 44 hours.

The Gondolo line is named for the ‘Chronometro Gondolo’ watches created by Patek for the Brazilian jewellers Gondolo & Labouriau in Rio de Janeiro in 1902. Since then, Patek Philippe has adopted this name to define a range of watches with unusual (non-round) shapes and designs.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid.
