The Breguet Marine traces its origins back to a time when Breguet supplied marine chronometers to the French Royal Navy. Breguet’s reputation as a watchmaker and marketer are rightly regarded as legendary by today’s watch-collecting community.

It's possible that some watch collectors don't actually know about A-L Breguet's status as official watchmaker to the French Royal Navy during his own lifetime. His career was prodigious, and what might have been a crowning achievement in another watchmaker's career can seem like a footnote in the inventor of the tourbillon. Breguet received his prestigious appointment on October 27, 1815, eight years before his death in Paris and 14 years after registering his patent for the tourbillon. By the time he received the appointment, Breguet was the most famous watchmaker in the world.

This 2003 iteration, follows firmly in the brand’s estimable, historic tradition. The piece is sumptuous in yellow gold, with automatic centre seconds, an automatic jewelled, nickel lever movement with mono-metallic balance and a very beautiful dial guilloche dial. The dial bears the piece’s individual number.

Atop the dial sits a satin-finished, silvered chapter ring for hours and minutes with Roman and dot numerals, centre seconds, blued steel Breguet hands and an aperture for date at 6 o'clock.

The watch is elegantly cased in 18k yellow gold case with a caseback secured by six screws. The case, dial and movement are signed and the piece is finished with an 18k yellow gold Breguet folding buckle.

The watch is presented for sale in excellent condition. The case, caseback, dial and alligator strap are in excellent condition with some minor marks from wear, commensurate with age and authenticity.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
