SUMMARY

The Basculante is one of the older iterations of Cartier’s iconic model, having debuted back in 1933. In a similar vein to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso, the case can be rotated (vertically in the case of the Basculante), allowing the wearer to protect the face from damage. The crown is situated at 12, creating a unique look and providing it with an extra layer of protection.

Despite its long history, this interesting take on the Tank remained underappreciated until collectors recently started to appreciate its unique take on Cartier’s classic model line. The reference presented here is a Basculante XL, measuring 26mm X 40mm in size. Despite its XL designation, the watch is classically sized and is suitable for a range of wrist sizes. The white dial features the blued steel hands and Roman numerals synonymous with Cartier’s design. The watch is paired with a factory Cartier alligator strap which nicely complements its dressy aesthetic.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence.
