KEY FACTS

  • The Breitling Jupiter Pilot is an interesting footnote in Breitling’s rich history, and first launched in 1980 when the Swiss watchmaker was flirting with battery-powered quartz movements as a result of the quartz crisis at the end of the previous decade
  • The quirky Jupiter Pilot was part of Breitling’s Navitimer line of aviation watches, and combined the complex dial and bi-directional slide rule bezel of its iconic forebearer with a distinctive angular case and a quartz movement
  • This reference A59028 is one of the last-gen Jupiter Pilots manufactured from 1995 to 1998
  • The black dial of this 1990's piece is a large source of the watch’s character thanks to its three silver subdials, a squircle date window at four o’clock, and ‘ALARM’ wording between the eight and nine o’clock hour markers
  • Unlike its predecessors, there is no mention on the dial of the quartz movement powering the watch
  • Beneath the rear caseback beats the calibre Breitling 59 - a modified version of the Japanese made Miyota C3510, a quartz movement with a two-year battery life
  • The watch is water resistant to 100 metres, a depth confirmed during its last service dated December 2016
  • Offered by a private collector in the United Kingdom
  • A one-owner watch purchased new from a Breitling authorised dealer
  • Presented with its box, instruction booklet, and full official Breitling service history
  • The vendor notes that there is some age-consummate wear on the slide rule bezel
  • Graded ‘A’ for condition by the vendor who reports the watch to be in good working order

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
