- An important watch in the history of the illustrious Patek Philippe Nautilus, the reference 3800 was produced between 1981 and 2006
- Following feedback from collectors that the original Nautilus was too large at 42mm, the 3800 was the first ‘mid-sized’ version of Patek Philippe's iconic sports watch and measured a more wrist-friendly 37.5mm
- Despite its scaled-down dimensions, this smaller member of the Nautilus family retained all of the iconic Gérald Genta-penned design language of its larger sibling: the integrated bracelet, rounded octagonal ‘porthole’ bezel, and ear-like hinges either side of the case
- It was the first Nautilus to be offered in two-tone steel and 18K yellow gold
- It was also the first to be driven by an in-house Patek Philippe-developed movement, the calibre 335 S C
- The 335 SC tied into Patek Philippe’s endeavour to bring the movement of the Nautilus line in-house, and away from the Jaeger LeCoultre base movements used by a number of other manufacturers
- Revered for its ultra-slim dimensions, calibre 335 S C is self-winding with a 48-hour power reserve
- This two-tone example features the Nautilus’ signature blue gradient dial is offered by a private collector in Dubai
- Presented with its original display box and certificate of origin
- Also included is a modern Patek Philippe travel pouch
- The vendor notes that an additional link is included with the lot
- The vendor also notes the watch was serviced by Patek Philippe in October 2023 and a sticker from this remains fitted to the caseback
- Graded ‘A’ for condition by the vendor who reports the watch to be in excellent condition
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
