Sell it with usListing Updated - Offered by an established UK-based jeweller, this Tudor Submariner ref. 9411/0 is presented on a dark blue NATO strap and accompanied by a certificate of service dating to 2015. No original warranty documentation is supplied. Some marks and scratches are visible, which are commensurate with age. Overall, the case has strong and defined lugs for a watch of this vintage, and its condition appears to be within the bounds of the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
Representing the last of the Tudor “Snowflakes”, this collectable reference 9411/0 was launched around 1976 and introduced a date window to this iconic model. The watch shares many components with its big brother Rolex as signified by the “ORIGINAL OYSTER CASE BY ROLEX GENEVA” engraved case back and the signed Rolex crown. The “Snowflake” hands and markers are distinctive features of these vintage Tudors, and in this example, the tritium markers have faded to an even warm patina. The whiter shade on the hands suggests they have been replaced at service at some stage. Housed inside the case is the ETA-based calibre 2784, which is equipped with hacking seconds and a date function.
While the movement calibre is correct for this model, the lack of nickel plating, variance in the regulator type and the lack of a signed rotor suggest that the movement is a non-Tudor service replacement and not the original. Potential bidders should bear this in mind.
Despite living in the shadow of its big brother Rolex, Tudor has its own acclaimed and very interesting history, particularly for dive watches. Robust and reliable, these early “Snowflake” references were supplied to the Marine Nationale for military use.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
