Sell it with usOriginally designed to accompany the wrists of sports car drivers, this Porsche Design Chronograph picked up the ‘Military’ title when its potential as a field watch was discovered. Sturdy, reliable and able to withstand up to 7G of acceleration, this is not just a beautiful watch but a practical one as well.
The black dial features three sub-dials with the distinct -and now iconic orange hands, one for the stopwatch hand and another in the hours counter. This detail tries to emulate the gauges of the original Porsche 911, on which the reference is based. Also on the dial is the 3H marking, which indicates the use of tritium as a means of illumination. As is the case with most tritium dials, this has tastefully patinated to a warm ecru tone over the years.
This particular example is a non-military issued version, as indicated by the absence of any engraving on the caseback. Housed inside the case is the Lemania 5100 chronograph movement.
This example is presented in excellent condition for a watch of its age with some light signs of wear, bringing it within the bounds of the seller’s A grading. The sale includes a black leather box, three detailed operations diagram copy period adverts, a copy guarantee card and a swing tag.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading.
