ABOUT THIS WATCH
- A watch that’s maintained somewhat of a cult status in the Patek Philippe catalogue, the Ellipse is the company’s second-longest-running model line - preceded only by the Calatrava
- The watch’s elliptical shape - somewhere between a circle and a rectangle - is designed using the ‘golden ratio’ and characterised by its unique lugless case.
- This ref. 3605, also known as the “Jumbo Ellipse”, was produced throughout the 70s and early 80s
- Incorporating a larger case, this oversize reference also used an automatic movement the calibre 28-255
- This example is crafted in luxurious yellow gold and features a vertically brushed dial with a central minutes track and Roman numeral hour markers
