Sell it with usOffered for auction by an established UK-based dealer, this vintage Omega Chronostop from 1968 was serviced by Omega Specialists Swiss Time Services in October of 2021. Despite its age, the watch is presented with only light marking, bringing it within the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
A result of 1960s experimentalism, which focused on funky colours and unconventional geometry; It features an oval-shaped case with a racing-style minutes track and a contrasting bright orange seconds hand. The dial and hour markers seem to have not be affected by time, showing minimal patina. Housed inside the case is Omega’s cal. 865 running with 21,600 BPH. The Omega Chronostop won the 1967 Honor Prize for “Chronographs and Sport Watches” and 1st prize for Industrial Aesthetics at the Utrecht Spring Fair in 1968 due to its creative design. It was also the official watch for timing in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico.
The Omega Chronostop was launched in 1966, initially to be part of the Seamaster collection. It was eventually advertised as a more affordable chronograph targeted at younger buyers.
