SUMMARY
The ref. 1579 was launched in 1943 at the Basel fair and remained on sale for over 20 years. It is estimated that in this time less than 500 examples were made, making it a rare watch within the context of Patek production. This standout reference is distinguished by its relatively large case, and for the first time in the brand’s history, distinctive faceted ‘spider’ lugs. This particular example is finished in yellow gold and has a pulsations dial. Applied Arabic numerals are positioned at 12 and 6, while small pyramid markers make up the remaining hour indicators. Housed inside the case is the calibre 13-130 manual winding chronograph movement which is based on a Valjoux 23 ebauche.
