Sell it with usThis 2022 Rolex Explorer II ref. 226570 was purchased new by the vendor from a London-based authorised dealer. It’s presented with the display box, warranty card, sleeve, booklet and swing tags. Rolex’s five-year international warranty provides cover until 2027. The watch is unworn and shows no signs of wear on the case or bracelet and a factory protective sticker is in place on the crown guards. Its condition appears to be consistent with the vendor’s ‘AA’ grading.
The reference 226570 Explorer II was announced in April last year to tie in with the model’s 50th anniversary. Despite much speculation about design revisions, Rolex kept the updates subtle but purposeful. The 42mm case has some excess bulk shaved off the sides, leaving a slightly slimmer and more refined profile. The dial remains largely unchanged except for a matte black finish being applied to the hands and indices, as opposed to the gloss of the previous reference. This example features the white or “polar dial”, which has become a favourite amongst collectors for its clean look and is an appealing alternative to the plethora of black-dialled Rolex sports watches.
Technically speaking, this new reference has been updated with the latest generation calibre 3285. Shared with the GMT-Master II, this movement features Rolex’s new “Chronergy” escapement delivering increased levels of anti-magnetism and an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
