SUMMARY
Worn by numerous world leaders and celebrities since its introduction in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date is one of The Crown’s most-loved designs. The Day-Date was the world’s first wristwatch to display the date as well as the day spelt in full, and this particular design - reference 228239 - is highly distinctive, thanks to its 18K rose gold finish combined with a tastefully contrasting “sunburst” olive green dial. Despite being from the latest line of Day-Dates launched at Baselworld in 2015, the watch retains the original watch’s design feature of a trademark cyclops’ magnifier positioned over the date window at three o’clock. Beneath the screw-down case back beats Rolex’s in-house developed 3255 calibre; a highly-precise automatic movement with a power reserve of 70 hours.
