KEY FACTS

  • A hero reference for Patek Philippe, the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (reference 5271P) debuted at BaselWorld 2014 and was the first Patek Philippe flagship to be finished with a platinum and diamond-set case
  • A 2022 watch, this piece is offered by a private collector based in the United Kingdom and is a one-owner example purchased new from an authorised Patek Philippe dealer
  • The watch is presented with its wooden display box, outer sleeve, and papers including a certificate of origin
  • A spare platinum case back and date-adjustment tool are included with the set, and the watch’s platinum bracelet clasp still wears the watch’s factory-fitted protective stickers
  • Graded ‘AA’ by the vendor, who reports the watch to be unworn condition

This watch is being managed by Watch Collecting for the duration of the auction and is being held in a secure third-party facility. Watch Collecting will release the watch to the successful bidder after the vendor confirms they have received payment

SUMMARY

The 5271P is a hero reference from the ‘Holy Trinity’ watchmaker, highlighting their technical expertise in both watchmaking and gem-setting. It is considered by many as the quintessential Patek Philippe and among the finest references in the world of high horology. Its elegant platinum case measures 41mm in diameter and is expertly set with diamonds in the lugs and bezel. Even the platinum clasp on the strap is embellished with baguette diamonds, demonstrating Patek’s attention to detail. Turning the watch over and a sapphire case back displays the expertly finished in-house calibre 29-535 PS Q. This pioneering movement is Patek Philippe’s first perpetual calendar chronograph made entirely in-house. It’s elaborately decorated and typifies Patek Philippe’s rich history in complicated watchmaking.
