Sell it with usThis single-owner Rolex Daytona is being auctioned along with its box, booklets, swing tag, extra bracelet link and original purchase receipt. Rolex’s 5-year guarantee covers the watch until 2026. Presented in unworn and mint condition, it appears to be consistent with the seller’s ‘AAA’ grading.
Launched in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cosmograph, the ref. 116506 is the first series-production Daytona to be offered in platinum. All previous platinum examples were special creations in vanishingly small numbers. Despite its heft, the watch is both ergonomic and supremely wearable thanks to its case which measures 40mm in diameter and a cuff-friendly 12.2mm thick.
The dial is finished in ice blue, a colour Rolex reserves exclusively for its platinum watches. Its sunburst finish and diamond-set dial capture the light in interesting ways and complements the lacquered chestnut brown sub-registers. The “Cerachrom” bezel’s tachymeter scale - a nod to the model’s motor racing heritage - has platinum filled recesses to display the numerals. A screw-down crown and pushers afford the watch 100m of water resistance and further add to its versatility. Underneath the case back is the calibre 4130, which has a 72-hour power reserve, COSC certification, and is internally tested by Rolex to a tolerance of +2 to -2 per day.
Attached to the case is an Oyster bracelet finished in platinum with polished centre links and an Oysterlock clasp. It also features Rolex’s Easylink extension system, which allows up to 5mm of tool-free adjustment.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
