Offered by a UK-trade seller, this Rolex Day-Date 40 is accompanied by its outer and display box, warranty card, sleeve and swing tag booklet. Presented in mint condition, it is consistent the vendor’s ‘AA’ grading. Rolex’s 5-year international guarantee covers the watch until 2026.

Accompanying yellow, rose and white gold, the reference 228206 we see here introduces platinum to the 40mm Day-Date family. Presented with the known and loved ‘President’ bracelet it differentiates itself in 2 ways from other precious metal variations. The first is the smooth bezel, which up until Baselworld 2022 was a watertight way to identify a platinum Day-Date, and the second is the ice blue dial.

The platinum construction adds to heft of the watch which also benefits from baguette diamond hour markers, adding to its opulence. Beating inside is the calibre 3255, an automatic mechanical movement that is chronometer-certified and tested after casing to +2 to -2 seconds per day. 

First launched in 1956 and the world’s first chronometer wristwatch that could display the week’s date and day through windows in its dial, the Day-Date has become synonymous with luxury as a flagship model in Rolex’s catalogue.
