Sell it with usLaunched at Baselworld 2015, the Rolex Day-Date 40 replaced the outgoing Day-Date II, bringing more refined proportions to this flagship model. The Day-Date is only available in precious metal, and this reference 228238 is fashioned from 18K yellow gold.
Its polished 40mm case features Rolex’s iconic fluted bezel and the silver sunray dial has a striking diagonal motif. Like the case, the hands and hour markers are constructed from gold and two apertures at 12 and 3 o’clock provide the day of the week and date. The screw-down crown that offers 100m of waterproofness solidifies the watch as a truly versatile option for any occasion.
Housed inside the case is Rolex’s latest generation calibre 3255, which is equipped with a 70-hour power reserve and is both chronometer-certified and tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day. A President bracelet keeps the watch secured to the wrist and is constructed entirely from 18K yellow gold. It’s available almost exclusively on the Day-Date and signifies a Rolex model constructed from precious metal.
Purchased in December 2021, this example is presented in new, unworn condition and is within the bounds of the seller’s AAA grading. Some factory stickers are still in place. The sale includes the box, warranty card, purchase receipt, booklet, sleeve and swing tags. Rolex’s five-year warranty provides cover until December 2026.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
