SUMMARY
Introduced in 1997, the Aquanaut draws inspiration from its Genta-designed counterpart, the Nautilus, but maintains its own unique character. It was considered unconventional at launch, offered on a strap made of rubber - a material not traditionally associated with Switzerland’s premier watchmakers. Since then, it’s set the trend for other manufacturers to combine luxurious and contemporary materials.
Part of Patek Philippe’s current Aquanaut range, this ref. 5167R-001 has an expertly finished 40.8mm rose gold case with a blend of brushed and polished surfaces showcasing the watchmaker’s attention to detail. Due to its impressive thinness (8.1mm), the watch can easily slide under any shirt cuff, and with its screw-down crown and 120m water-resistant case, is just at home by the water.
