Sell it with usRecently discontinued, the reference 216570 was first launched in 2010 and ushered in a new generation of Explorer II’s. In a rare move for Rolex, they directly referenced their past by incorporating the orange 24-hour hand from the original 1970s model. Everything else was beefed up, including a 42mm case and a ‘maxi-dial’ with larger hands and indices.
The watch we see here is the black dial variant which features a black coating on the base of each hand that creates a floating or ghosting effect, also reminiscent of vintage examples. Housed underneath the screw-down case back is the calibre 3187, which is equipped with Rolex’s proprietary ‘Paraflex’ shock protection system and ‘Parachrom’ hair-spring. It also has a 48-hour power reserve, Chronometer certification, and tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day. Attached to the case is an Oyster bracelet with an ‘Easylink’ extension built into the clasp - giving the wearer 5mm of tool-free adjustment.
This 2019 example is presented in excellent and its condition is within the bounds of the seller's A grading. It's being sold with its box, guarantee, booklet, and swing tag. Rolex’s five-year warranty covers the watch until 2024.
