Sell it with usThe Rolex Explorer is steeped in a history which really shapes the reference 214270. The reference 6530 was the first model to have an Explorer signed dial. Then in 1959 Rolex released the 6610 which had all the classic hallmarks of the contemporary iteration, stainless steel Oyster case, black dial, 3-6-9 numerals, inverted triangle at 12 and Mercedes-style hands. The model evolved into the 1016 in 1963 which initially had the calibre 1570 movement - later version had the 1570.
It wasn't until Baselworld 2010 and several generations later, that Rolex released the Rolex Explorer 214270 with an in-house, calibre 3132 automatic movement. The case also grew to 39mm but the general design remains true to the original, with the traditional 3-6-9 dial and Oyster bracelet with Easylink extension. The Rolex Explorer 214270 also features an engraved inner rehaut.
The 214270 is powered by the caliber 3133, an automatic movement with 31 jewels, similar to those found in the Submariner. The rotor that powers this movement is bidirectional and when fully wound has a power reserve of 48 hours. It displays seconds, hours and minutes.
Smart, elegant, utilitarian and tough, this is a serious timepiece.
The watch is presented in mint condition throughout its case, caseback and bracelet with barely perceptible signs of wear. The bracelet retains an original factory sticker. The box set with papers is also excellent.
