Sell it with usAuctioned through a UK-based trade vendor, this 2019 Rolex Day-Date comes as a full set. The watch is presented with its original box and outer sleeve, plus documents including its user manual, service booklet, and proof of Rolex’s five-year international warranty covering the watch until 2024. The seller has also included a set of swing tags as part of the ensemble. The reference wears some light scratches and marks; most of which are noticeable on the case lugs and bracelet. The watch is reported to be in good working order and has been graded ‘A’ for condition by the vendor. The images appear consistent with their assessment.
Fashioned entirely from 18K white gold, this Rolex Day-Date measures 40mm in diameter and boasts significant wrist presence without being imposing. The fluted bezel - a design trait synonymous with the Day-Date - surrounds an unusual dark rhodium dial with vertical stripes. White gold hands and baton-shaped hour markers are coated with luminous material to provide superior legibility to the wearer. Meanwhile, the day of the week is spelt out in full in an aperture at 12 o’clock, whilst the date window is located beneath a cyclops magnifier at the 3 o’clock position.
Beating at the heart of this Day-Date is Rolex’s 3255 calibre, an automatic, chronometer-certified movement boasting a power reserve of 70 hours. Insensitive to magnetic interference thanks to Rolex’s use of nickel-phosphorus in its construction, this automatic movement beats to an accuracy of +2/-2 seconds per-day and is widely regarded amongst collectors thanks to its accuracy and durability.
Matching the Submariner and GMT-Master II for heritage, Rolex introduced the Day-Date in 1956 and it was the world’s first commercial watch to display the date and the day written in its full form. Largely unchanged in terms of design since its launch, the Day-Date is a much-loved staple in the current Rolex line-up.
