SUMMARY
Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympics for the past 28 Olympiads since 1932, and Omega always presents limited editions dedicated to this major sports event. For Tokyo 2020, the event was impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic, meaning this collectable series of Speedmasters reflects a symbol of the 2020 games that never occurred. These limited-edition watches were produced in five colours, representing the different coloured rings of the Olympic flag, namely the blue, yellow, black, green and red rings depicting the five continents. Limited production meant only 2,020 of each colour were produced. Presented here is a rare and complete set of those five watches, each graded ‘AAA’ by the vendor, and are unworn and sealed in their original factory stickers.
Each of these Speedmasters features a 42mm asymmetrical case with brushed and polished surfaces, an external tachymeter scale on the bezel, a 3-6-9 layout for the chronograph sub-registers, and a three-link steel bracelet. The movement within these models is the iconic hand-wound Omega calibre 1861. Flipping the case reveals a solid steel back stamped with the Tokyo 2020 logo and each watch’s unique build number.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
