SeikoProspex Diver '1968 Reissue'

Released in 2018 to mark the 50th anniversary of Seiko’s first professional dive watch, the SLA025 is a faithful recreation of ref. 6159-7001 with a few modern refinements.

Produced as a limited edition of 1500, and long ago sold out, the Diver 1968 Reissue keeps the same monocoque case design but swaps in the latest 8L55 Hi-beat movement. The large diameter case and tall crown show the professional origins of the watch but the chamfered case back and short lugs make this watch remarkably wrist friendly.

Large slabs of Lumibrite on the dial have gold-coloured surrounds which, along with the hands and bezel numerals, keeps the vintage feel.

The case is finished using the Zaratsu (blade polishing) technique, usually reserved for Grand Seiko watches.

The silicone strap is a period-correct ‘waffle’ design, but the drilled lugs make straps changes a breeze.

This watch is offered in ‘as new’ condition with full box and papers. The case has faint handling marks. The silicone strap has attracted a little dust but is otherwise unmarked. The Seiko swing tag is still attached. The box and outer carton are complete and in good condition.
