ABOUT THIS WATCH
- Launched in 2018 this Speedmaster is a modern take on the CK2998 worn on the wrist of Wally Schirra
- This reference is actually the latest version of the CK2998 series in the Speedmaster Collection which has been debuted back in 2012 with the Speedmaster 'First Omega In Space'
- The watch reprises the classic looks of older Speedmasters with a smaller 39.7mm case and straight lugs
- This 21st-century tribute features a white dial with contrasting black sub-dials and minute track, and stainless steel case with symmetrical lugs as the watch that inspired it
- The most curious detail is definitely the pulsometer scale bezel, which is a nod to Speedmaster history having been available for special-order since the ’60s
- This bezel was used by doctors to measure a patient's heart rate; relying on the central chronograph hand the pulsometer will measure the heart rate over a base of 15 or 30 pulsations
- As a final touch, the stainless steel case back is also embossed with the original 1962 seahorse medallion
- Housed inside the case is Omega's calibre 1861 chronograph
- This manually-wound movement is equipped with a 48-hour power reserve
