Sell it with usOffered by an established UK-based dealer, this Rolex Daytona ref. 116506 is presented with its display box, outer box, warranty card, booklets, swings tags and two spare links. The watch shows some light signs of wear, most notably on the bracelet links and clasp, and its overall condition appears to be within the bounds of the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
Launched in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cosmograph, the ref. 116506 is the first series-production Daytona to be offered in platinum. All previous platinum examples were special creations in vanishingly small numbers. Despite its heft, the watch is both ergonomic and supremely wearable thanks to its case which measures 40mm in diameter and a cuff-friendly 12.2mm thick.
The dial is finished in ice blue, a colour Rolex reserves exclusively for its platinum watches. This example also features the added desirability of factory-set baguette diamond hour markers. Complementing the dial is a “Cerachrom” bezel finished in chestnut brown with a platinum engraved tachymeter scale. A screw-down crown and pushers afford the watch 100m of water resistance. Underneath the case back is the calibre 4130 movement, which has a 72-hour power reserve, COSC certification, and is internally tested by Rolex to a tolerance of +2 to -2 per day.
Attached to the case is an Oyster bracelet finished in platinum with polished centre links and an Oysterlock clasp. It also features Rolex’s Easylink extension system, which allows up to 5mm of tool-free adjustment.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
